My friend Johnny Chan is an incredibly hard-working programmer who recently reinvented his career by doing something like 10 hackathons in 10 weeks. He is continuing to grow and learn and he just asked me if I could recommend any UX/UI resources to him.
I decided to post the list here so that hopefully it can help others and perhaps we can grow it over time!
I took a free 6 or 8 week course on coursera back in 2014 and I got a lot out of it.
As a quick intro or review, theuxreview.co.uk has a good series of articles called UX research – a beginners guide.
I’d also recommend Don Norman’s Design of Everyday Things if you haven’t already read it. It’s really high level but an absolute classic.

I’m currently listening to the podcast The UX Intern. It’s more for people who are trying to get started as ux designers as opposed to people like us who are developers interested in ux but I’ve still got a lot out of it.
And if you’re keen on user research then you’ll love the podcast Dollars to Donuts.
